Position Summary:
The Cultural Division, Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Washington D.C. office is recruiting an Academic Advisor. The Academic Advisor is responsible for all aspects of administering Kuwait Government scholarship programs including but not limited to providing academic advisement and counseling for a number of Kuwaiti sponsored students attending Universities in the Unites States and Canada.

Minimum Qualifications:
Earned Bachelor's Degree in Education, International Education, and Counseling or related field with minimum of 5 years of related experience. 

Minimum Requirements:
• Must have 5 years and above professional experience.
• Must have up-to-date knowledge of U.S. Higher Education, Immigration rules pertaining to international students/scholars.
• Must have the ability to function and perform day-to-day academic advising task in a fast-paced, team-oriented multi-cultural environment.
• Position requires strong organizational communication.
• Computer literacy including skills with Internet research tools and social media.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, teamwork, critical thinking and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience in educational institution.
• Previous experience in advising college and/or university international students.
• Awareness of multi-cultural settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To ensure appropriate advising and monitoring of MOHE Undergraduate students in American institutions of higher education to ensure that educational and personal student needs are met and the training needs of Ministry of Higher Education are realized.  Works as advisor, liaison, and monitor.
  • Orient new students to American higher education, scholarship rules, office policies, and other issues pertinent to their stay in the United States
  • Process ESL and academic applications for students
  • Process student change of major, university transfer requests
  • Ensure approval of university and major in which student is enrolled
  • Counsel and advise students on academic and personal issues
  • Bring any issue of vital concern to the attention of the Director (and Cultural Counselor and Attaché if necessary)
  • Work with Director on Early Detection and Intervention process for students with academic or other problems
  • Answer email messages from students
  • Monitor academic progress of students (make sure they are following their university study plans and fulfilling the requirements for their majors)
  • Be fully knowledgeable on regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and ensure that students are not in violation of those regulations
  • Research universities and majors to have command of knowledge regarding their students’ academic aspirations
  • Process termination, extension, suspension, and graduation of students
  • Authenticate final transcripts

Position Summary:
The Cultural Division, Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Washington D.C. office is recruiting a Software Engineer/Web Developer for IT Department. Key Role - Develops effective, defect free source code that meets office requirements and team standards. Develops information systems by designing, developing, and installing software solutions. Responsible for designing, coding and modifying website.

Required Qualifications:
Earned Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Engineering and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Required Qualifications:
• Demonstrate strong understanding of software development/engineering.
• Demonstrate strong technical skills to design/administer/develop Database systems.
• Demonstrate strong experience in SQL database experience.
• Demonstrate strong programming skills. 
• Demonstrate strong software engineering/development experience creating web-based and mobile applications.
• Strong experience with: HTTP, SSL, HTML, Bootstrap, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP Runner and any other languages and technologies are plus.
• Demonstrate experience and understanding of data visualization tools.

Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Must have the ability to function and perform day-to-day IT task in a fast-paced, team-oriented multi-cultural environment.
• Must have the ability to solve problems and make pragmatic engineering decision.
• Position requires strong organizational communication skills.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, teamwork, critical thinking and presentation skills.
